My Spring Break Carry-On Bag

In honor of Spring Break, I thought I would share my carry-on bag essentials…enjoy!
My Spring Break Carry-On Bag
—-
I recently purchase the large Longchamp Le Pilage specifically for work/travel, although I will use it as an everyday purse as well. If I wanted to store the purse in my suitcase then I could easily fold it up and tuck it away.

I always bring a small make-up bag with basic essentials in it. For this trip I decided to bring some tinted lip balm, blush, eye shadow, mascara, liquid eye liner, and powder along with a travel size brush kit. Although I usually wear my glasses on the plane, I added contact solution for when I wake up and have dry eyes. To be on the safe side I included Tampax, cause you never know…

Keeping electronics to a minimum has always been difficult for me, but since I got my iPad it’s really easy to resist bringing my laptop since it’s so much lighter. It’s safe to assume that I packed my iPhone as in today’s society, it is essential to survive…JK. Don’t forget a pair of headphones or two and a few chargers.

My Malden Filofax is my own personal bible. It has all my lists, calendars, blog post organizers, dairy, etc. I couldn’t go anywhere without it! I included one pen, my current favorite Stabilo fine liner, but I will probably end up packing a few more.

I’m usually a gum person, but I though why not try Altoids. So, I packed the spearmint flavor…my favorite ;)

A co-worker of mine suggested I read Outliers by Malcom Gladwell.  Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishigurohas been sitting on my bookshelf for quite some time. Long flights are a great opportunity to get in some much needed reading.

Ever since I bought the Deena and Ozzy scarf I haven’t stopped wearing it. It’s pretty big which is perfect if the plane is really cold and you don’t want to use the standard issued blankets(if airlines even do that anymore).

I’ve recently started doing bringing my own reusable water bottle on trips because it really does save some dough. AND…it’s good for the environment!

I bringing my DSLR and an old compact canon on my trip along with a 32gb memory card so I don’t have to empty the card everyday.

~Have a SAFE and FUN Spring Break!

{Room Redo}

I would like to introduce a series of posts that will relate to my room redo process. In the next few weeks expect things like choosing paint colors, finding furniture on a budget, and organizing what you already have; which brings me to my first post of the series:

.: Closet Make-Over | How To Plan and Refashion Your Wardrobe :.

I found this step-by-step guide at The Chic Fashionista. This was the only   system that really appealed to me because of its clarity and specific organizing procedures. The complete list is quite lengthy, so I have simplified it for your convenience. :)

Main Tips to Organize Your Closet:

               - keep all clothing categories together (i.e.: jeans, tops, scarves, socks)
               - organize by color and season
               - use the S.P.A.C.E system
  • Sort: take everything out of your closet, drawers, and racks, sort the items by clothing type, start sorting the content drawers first, vacuum the entire closet and clean drawers
  • Purge: try on ALL clothes (if it hasn’t been worn in a year - chuck it!), create six piles and put your items in the one that applies (keepers, charity, tailoring, dry cleaning/to-be stored, trash, time capsule)
  • Assess: evaluate and analyze what is needed to store your items
  • Containerize: finalize a shopping list for storage containers, go shopping (I recommend target, walmart, amazon, and the container store), put storage container near the clothing category that it will store, separate clothing by season then color, fold/hang/store items by clothing group
  • Equalize: incase overtime you notice a certain system isn’t working go back and see if an alternate set-up works for you
Hope you found this helpful! I’ll be back next week with a guide to finding cute yet budget friendly furniture.

.: Mason Jars :.

Thanks to Pinterest I have a new found love for mason jars! From on-the-go drink containers to home decor, these little glass beauties are amazing. The glass is simple yet classy with an infinite number of uses unlike a plastic jar. I need to get my hands on some because there are so many things I want to use them for. Here are some of my favorite:

Aren’t they so cute?! You can get some pint size mason jars here or just clean out any old glass jar if you don’t want to spend more money. Removing labels from the recycled jar may be difficult, so I recommend goo gone or really hot water to get the job done.

Have Fun :)

.: My Week #1 :.

I have finally finished high school, which means much more free time! That being said, it’s time to actually do the things that were on my New Years resolutions post. One of which is to post on Tumblr 3ish time a week. I plan to dedicate Sundays to “My Week…”, like this one, and leave M/W/F for days to talk about various college/life/organizing topics.

Here is my week of January 14th:

I discovered this ongoing “My Week…”  post idea from Angela at paperlovestory. This year she encouraged her readers to post their week, which I had to join in on. Each week I will post a picture of what my Malden Filofax looks like and how I organize/decorate my week of tasks. Incase you are wondering, I mostly use Muji pens along with Stabilo fineliners, erasable Pilot Frixion colors, and Papermate Flair pens.

Enjoy!

I saw a few of these floating around, and I absolutely love this idea. I live in a huge city, so for everyone who reblogs this by January 12, 2013, I will write your URL on a slip of paper and tape it somewhere in public! Then I’ll take a photo of where I put it, post it, and tag it with your URL.

This is 100% serious business. I am a 100% serious blogger (but not really)
